Mapo Tofu With Ground Pork, Garlic, Scallions

Here is another dish that I can’t order at restaurants, because it is usually served spicy – Mapo Tofu, or as it is written sometimes, Ma Po Tofu. Just like with the Thai Chicken Salad Recipe, since I cannot order this dish at restaurants, because it is too spicy, I tried to recreate it myself.

When I make my own Mapo Tofu, I control the spice level. This is a great stir fry dish that is easy to make. You can serve it with rice and a salad, or a vegetable side dish. Here are a few things you can serve with it: Garlicky Broccoli Stir Fry, Broccoli Stir Fry, Radish and Cucumber Salad, Red Onions and Cucumber Salad Recipe.

Ingredients for Mapo Tofu With Ground Pork, Garlic, Scallions

0.75 Pounds of Ground Pork
1 Pound of Tofu
3 cloves of garlic
A few Red Pepper Flakes
5 Scallions

Black Pepper
3 Tablespoons of Soy Sauce
2 Tablespoons of Hoisin Sauce
Canola Oil For Frying

How To Make Mapo Tofu With Ground Pork, Garlic, Scallions

Chop the garlic. Chop the scallions.

Drain and chop tofu.

Heat up oil in the skillet. Add ground pork and stir fry pork for 3-5 minutes. Add tofu, garlic and pepper flakes, and stir fry until the pork and tofu are cooked. Add soy sauce and Hoisin sauce, stir fry for a few more minutes.

Arrange the stir fry on a serving platter. Garnish with scallions.
