Pita With Hummus and Lamb

I like to cook, and I like doing meal planning. And I also like going out to restaurants, to try dishes that are new to me, and to get more ideas for my own cooking and meal planning. When I remake a restaurant dish, it is usually with my own spin on it.

I like all kinds of restaurants, and all kinds of cuisines. American, Italian, Greek, French, Mediterranean, Eastern European — as long as the restaurant has good food, it’s all good!

I like Middle Eastern restaurants, the tasty dips, the grilled meats, pitas — all are delicious. When I am out at a Middle Eastern restaurant, I like to get shawarma sandwiches. I tried making it myself – with my own spin, of course – and it came out great, so here it is.

My take on lamb shawarma is a pita sandwich with lamb patties. The onion, parsley and spices make the lamb patties extremely delicious and flavorful. And when you put the lamb patties on a pita, and add hummus and tomato and cucumber salad, to them, this becomes a very tasty dish!

Meal Planning With Pita With Hummus and Lamb

It is pretty simple to create a meal with these pitas with lamb patties, hummus and a salad. Add a simple rice dish, such as Basmati Rice with Dill, and another simple vegetable, and you have a delicious meal ready!

Here is the menu:

Basmati Rice With Dill
Roasted Asparagus

Tools You Will Need To Make Pita With Hummus and Lamb

Kitchen Knife, for chopping parsley
Cutting Board, for chopping parsley
Mixing Bowl, for mixing lamb, onions, parsley, eggs, cumin, coriander, salt, pepper
Saute Pan for frying lamb patties
Grater, for grating onions
Dinner Plates

Ingredients for Pita With Hummus and Lamb

1.5 Pounds Of Ground Lamb
Half Of A Medium Onion
1 Tablespoon Of Parsley
2 Eggs
A pinch of ground cumin
A pinch of ground coriander
Salt
Freshly Ground Black Pepper

Canola Oil For Frying
Fresh pocketless pitas

You will also need to make:
Hummus and Tomato And Cucumber Salad

How To Make Pitas With Lamb Patties and Hummus

Peel and wash the onion. Wash parsley.

Grate the onion. Chop the parsley on a cutting board.

In a Mixing Bowl combine lamb, onions, parsley, eggs, ground cumin, ground coriander, salt, pepper. Mix well until everything is combined.

Form the lamb patties. I make them flat, as you can see in the picture. Heat up the canola oil in the saute pan and fry the patties. First, fry them for 4-6 minutes on one side. Then turn them over and fry until done.

To make pitas, put a pita on a dinner plate. Spread some hummus on the pita, top with two patties and top them with some tomato and cucumber salad. Enjoy!
