Combine Chocolate Cake Mix with other ingredients that are needed to make the cake in a mixing bowl. Mix all the ingredients together. Butter the9 x 13 Baking Pan. Pour cake batter the pan, and bake the cake per the cake box mix recommendations.
Once the cake is baked, take it out of the oven and cool it completely.
Cut the cake into pieces, and crumble into another mixing bowl. Add about 3/4 can of Chocolate Frosting and mix well. If the mixture is not wet enough to roll into balls, add 2 more tablespoons of Chocolate Frosting and mix again. It took me almost the whole can of frosting to get to the needed consistency. It will depend on how moist your cake is, and how much cake you have.
Line a Baking SheetwithParchment Paper.Roll the batter into round truffles and put the truffles on parchment paper. If you just want to cover them in Halloween Sprinkles, roll them in sprinkles before putting them on Parchment Paper. Put the cookie sheet in the fridge for at least 50 minutes, to make the truffles cold.
Don't skip cooling the Halloween cake balls in the fridge before dipping them. Cooling them for a bit helps keep Halloween chocolate truffles together in one piece, and makes it much easier to dip.Use a cake box mix that you have on hand. Instead of Chocolate Cake Mix, use Yellow Cake Mix or White Cake Mix. Or use a spice cake mix, this would be great for Halloween or fall cake balls.Use different candy melts.
