Rice pilaf is a simple and tasty dish to make. There are just a few ingredients – rice, onions, olive oil, turmeric, cumin and coriander. The result is a fabulous side dish that you can serve with many different main dishes, such as grilled chicken, roasted leg of lamb, and more.

To make rice pilaf, the first thing you will need is rice. What kind of rice should you use? This recipe uses Basmati rice, but you can use regular white rice as well, it tastes great in rice pilaf as well. In addition to rice, you will need onions, olive oil and spices.

To make rice pilaf, start by heating up olive oil. Then, add minced onions and cook them for a few minutes. Then, add cumin and coriander and cook for 30 seconds. Then, add rice, and toast the rice for a few minutes. Doing this makes rice pilaf flavorful.

Next, add water, bring pilaf to a boil, and simmer the rice until it is done. That is it – a flavorful pilaf dish is very simple to prepare.

Ingredients For Rice Pilaf Recipe

2 cups of Basmati Rice (or regular white rice)
4 cups of Water
1 small Onion

1 tablespoon of Olive Oil
a dash of turmeric
a pinch of coriander
a pinch of cumin

How To Make Rice Pilaf Recipe

Peel and wash the onion. Mince the onion on a cutting board.

Heat up olive oil in a cooking pan. Add the minced onion and cook for 5 minutes, until the onion is soft and translucent. Add cumin and coriander and cook for 30 seconds.

Add the rice and cook onion with the rice for a few more minutes. Add the water and turmeric. Bring to boil. Turn the heat down to low and cook the rice for 17 minutes or until the rice is done. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve.
