1 Tablespoon of Canola Oil

Cook the lentils according to the directions on the package. Make sure that they are soft enough to eat once they are done. Cool the lentils.

Peel and wash the onions. Chop the onions on a cutting board. Peel the garlic. Chop the garlic on a chopping board. Clean and wash the scallion and chop the scallion.

Heat up the oil in a saute pan. Add chopped onions and garlic to the saute pan, and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5-8 minutes. Add lentils, and cook for the lentils with garlic and onions for a few more minutes. Then, add crushed tomatoes, cumin, coriander, turmeric, season with salt and black pepper, and cook for a few more minutes.
