Steak Taco Recipe

Do you like foods where you can wrap the ingredients in some kind a wrap? I like them because they are fun to make and you can customize your dish. Just like you can customize the pita with lamb patties by adding different vegetables, you can customize your steak tacos with different vegetables.

Flank steak is flavorful and is great in tacos. In order for your steak to be tender, you must cut it thinly and you must cut it against the grain. If you cut it with the grain it will be impossible to chew, just like shoe leather. So make sure to cut it against the grain.

Serve the tacos with refried beans, black bean and corn salad, or chickpea salad.

There are tons of vegetables you can serve with these tacos - radishes, onions, avocados, corn, cabbage slaw, cilantro, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. And lots of veggies make these tacos good for you, so serve them with lots of veggies! What are your favorite taco toppings?

How To Make Steak Tacos

Heat up oil in the saute pan. Once the oil is hot, add the steak and sear on one side. Turn and sear on the other side.

In the meantime, pre-heat the oven to 375F. Put the steak in the oven to finish cooking to the desired level of doneness. Depending on your steak, and how you want it cooked, it can take 10-25 minutes. Make sure to check the steak temperature with a meat thermometer, so that you don’t undercook and that you don’t overcook your steak.

Well-done steak is 160F.
Medium-well steak 150-155F.
Medium steak 140-145F, etc.

Once you take the steak out of the oven, let it rest for 10-15 minutes. After it rests put it on a cutting board and cut it thinly, against the grain.

Chop your tomatoes, onions and cilantro on a cutting board. Peel and chop the avocado. Warm up the tortillas.

Build the tacos - put one tortilla on a plate. Add steak and vegetables to the tortilla.
