Parsley and Basil Pesto Recipe
Lately, a lot of people have asked me how to make pesto. Actually, pesto is easy to make, all you need is a blender and pesto ingredients.
A classic pesto to me is basil pesto, but this time I had both parsley and basil, so I used the equal amounts of basil and parsley. Parsley added an additional taste note, which only improved pesto.
I love to use pesto as a pasta sauce, but a bit of pesto is great on a sandwich, in minestrone, and more.

Tools You Will Need
Ingredients for Parsley and Basil Pesto
- A Bunch of Parsley
- A Bunch Of Basil
- 1/2 Cup + 1 Tablespoon Of Pine Nuts
- 1/2 Cup + 1 Tablespoon Of Parmesan Cheese
- 3 Garlic Cloves
- 1/2 Cup Of Olive Oil
- Salt
- Black Pepper
- Pasta, preferably fettuccini
How To Make Parsley and Basil Pesto
Cook pasta to al dente, according to package instructions.
Toast pine nuts on a skillet for a few minutes, until they become golden.
Grate Parmesan cheese.
Combine parsley, basil, 1/2 cup of pine nuts, 1/2 cup of Parmesan, garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper in a blender. Make sure to reserve one tablespoon of pine nuts and one tablespoon of Parmesan cheese for garnish. Process until smooth.
In a large bowl, combine cooked pasta and pesto. Add a bit of pasta water, if your pesto is a bit too thick. Garnish with the remaining pine nuts and Parmesan and enjoy!
