Hummus Recipe: How To Make Hummus
Everyone I talk to about hummus seems to have their own hummus recipe. And this is understandable - everyone loves something slightly different. And there are a ton of hummus recipes - some have red peppers, others have roasted onions, others have parsley, and more.
My recipe is also different from the classic hummus recipe, because I don’t use tahini, which is the sesame seed paste. Instead, I just use a bit of toasted sesame seeds.
Another thing that I do is I boil my garbanzo beans (chickpeas) myself. You are welcome to use garbanzo beans from a can.
So, if you are still asking how to make hummus, check out this recipe! It is easy to make and you will be enjoying hummus in no time!
Tools You Will Need To Make Hummus
Pot for boiling chickpeas
Small saute pan for toasting sesame seeds
Blender
Ingredients For Hummus
Half a pound of dry garbanzo beans (chickpeas) OR use canned garbanzo beans (chickpeas)
2 medium garlic cloves
1/3 cup of olive oil
3 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
A handful of sesame seeds
How To Make Hummus
If you are using canned chickpeas, skip this step. If you are using dry ones, add chickpeas to the pot, cover with water. Bring to boil, decrease the heat and cook until the chickpeas are done.
Once chickpeas are done, cool them completely before you make hummus.
Toast your sesame seeds for a few minutes.
In your blender, combine the chickpeas, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, and sesame seeds.
Blend until the desired consistency.
