Fried Rice Recipe

Here is an excellent way to use up any leftover rice you have in your fridge. If you make Beef Stir Fry and Broccoli Stir Fry and make rice as a side dish, you will probably have some rice leftover in the fridge. Don’t throw away that leftover rice – you can make this fabulous and very easy fried rice in just a few minutes.

There are lots of things that you can put into your fried rice – broccoli, onions, garlic, scallions, ginger, carrots or red peppers. You can put leftover meat in it as well – pork, chicken or beef, anything goes. This is a very minimalistic, easy and basic fried rice recipe. All I am using is rice, soy sauce, eggs and peas. Once you master this recipe, you can use the ideas and add other ingredients you have on hand.

One thing that I have always heard from people about making fried rice is that you must use the rice that is at least a day old. You cannot make rice and immediately use it to make fried rice, it just won’t work. I always wanted to test this theory, but I never could as I always make fried rice when I have some leftover rice after I cook Chinese food.

But last year I decided to finally test this theory out. So I made fresh cooked rice and then immediately made fried rice with it. And you know what? The theory is right. The fried rice made with fresh rice was not nearly as tasty as my regular fried rice, the one that I make with leftover rice. So there you have it. Use leftover rice in the fridge in this fried rice recipe.

What can you serve the fried rice with? Serve the fried rice with a salad, such as Red Onions and Cucumber Salad Recipe, or side dish, such as Spinach Stir Fry.

Ingredients For Fried Rice Recipe

3 Eggs
2 cups of one day old rice from the fridge
1 Tablespoon of Soy Sauce
1/2 cup of Frozen Peas

Oil for Frying

How To Make Fried Rice

Whisk the eggs. Heat up a few tablespoons of oil in the saute pan, add the eggs and make scrambled eggs. Take the eggs out of the saute pan, cool and cut into small pieces.

Add a few more tablespoons of oil into the saute pan. Add the rice, and cook for a few minutes, breaking up the larger pieces. You want to warm up the rice.

Add the soy sauce and gently mix it with the rice. Cook for 3-5 more minutes. Add the frozen peas and cook until the peas are warm as well. Add the eggs to the rice, mix and you have your fried rice! Serve the fried rice with a simple side dish, such as Spinach Stir Fry.
